March 27, 2025 - The New Yorkers for Clean Air coalition today issued the following statement in response to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s release of the proposed greenhouse gas reporting rule:

The Senate sent a powerful message in their one-house budget: cleaning New York’s air and holding polluters accountable is urgent. We commend their call for a strong cap-and-invest program and for urging the Hochul administration to move forward with long-overdue regulations.

Today, the New Yorkers for Clean Air coalition, alongside legislators and community advocates, gathered in Albany to demand immediate action from Governor Kathy Hochul on the overdue cap-and-invest rules.

New Yorkers for Clean Air wants Hochul to immediately publish draft rules for the cap-and-invest plan to limit greenhouse gas emissions, rather than delaying the program for another year.
