STATEMENT FROM NEW YORKERS FOR CLEAN AIR IN RESPONSE TO LEGISLATIVE ONE HOUSE BUDGETS

March 10, 2026

March 10, 2026 - The New Yorkers for Clean Air coalition released the following statement in response to the Senate and Assembly One-House Budget proposals:

‍

“New Yorkers for Clean Air applauds the Senate and Assembly for proposing another $1 billion investment in the Sustainable Future Program, a strong step toward lowering energy costs and accelerating New York’s clean energy transition. This investment will expand access to clean energy, cut pollution, and deliver real savings for households across the state. We also thank the Senate for supporting the implementation of a cap-and-invest program that will reduce air pollution and establish a funding stream to further invest in the clean energy economy.

“At a time when families are facing rising utility bills and volatile fossil fuel prices, doubling down on proven clean energy programs that provide price stability is exactly the kind of leadership New Yorkers need.

“As budget negotiations continue, lawmakers must hold the line on New York’s Climate Act and ensure the final budget protects the policies and investments needed to create good-paying union jobs, clean up our air, and deliver lasting energy affordability for communities across New York.”
