STATEMENT FROM NEW YORKERS FOR CLEAN AIR ON CHANGES TO THE CLCPA IN FINAL FY 2027 BUDGET
“New Yorkers are already paying the price for fossil fuel dependence through rising utility costs, unhealthy air, and increasingly severe storms and heat. The weakening of New York’s climate commitments in the final FY27 budget moves the state in the wrong direction at a time when families need cleaner, more affordable energy solutions the most.
“$1 billion for the Sustainable Future Fund is an important down payment on building healthier homes, cleaner transportation, and a more affordable clean energy future. But New Yorkers need recurring investments to fully deliver those benefits statewide.
“Instead of prolonging reliance on expensive and polluting fossil fuels, state leaders should be accelerating a cap and invest program that will provide sustained investments in clean energy, healthier communities, and modern infrastructure that lowers costs for families in the long term. New Yorkers deserve a future with cleaner air, stable energy bills, family-sustaining jobs and strong climate leadership that protects public health and strengthens our economy.”
